Welcome to the official web site for the Western Carolina University -
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Reaffirmation for Accreditation.
Western Carolina University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctorate degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of the university. Contact information for the Commission on Colleges is provided to allow interested constituents to: (1) learn about the accreditation status of the institution, (2) file a third-party comment at the time of the institution's decennial review, or (3) file a complaint against the institution for alleged non-compliance with a standard or requirement. Normal inquiries about the institution, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, and educational support services, should be addressed directly to Western Carolina University and not the Commission's office.
WCU was first accredited by SACSCOC in 1946 and its most recent reaffirmation was in 2007. We are proud of our long relationship with the Commission on Colleges and look forward to a productive future.
This web site has been designed to be accessible and user-friendly. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact Dr. Tim Metz, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, and SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison.
